What Are Spider Veins?

Spider veins are venous diseases that affect everyone in their life at least once.

It’s really common so if you develop them then do not worry too much!

They are just some broken and damaged veins that got swollen and because of swelling, they became more visible on your skin.

They are usually blue or purple and appear on your face or legs most of the time.

But all these things don’t mean they are serious or dangerous, they won’t harm you, however, if you don’t like their appearance then you can treat them just like many people remove them for cosmetic reasons.

What Causes Spider Veins?

There are many causes of spider veins appearing on your body but one of the most common reasons is too much pressure!

If you apply too much pressure on your legs then you are likely to develop this problem. Doing a job that requires staying in the same position for too long can build up pressure on your veins in the leg.

Standing up for too long or stinging for too long also causes this problem.

Sudden sneeze or vomiting can bring spider veins to your face but they will go away after the pressure is gone.

Spider Veins And Varicose Veins Are Different

Many people think both spider veins and varicose veins are the same problem but it’s not true.

Varicose veins include larger and more dangerous veins compared to spider veins.

Spider veins are rarely painful but varicose veins cause you pain often.

Additionally, if you ignore varicose veins you may face many problems like a blood clot and vein burst.

If one of these things happens then you may lose a lot of blood therefore never forget to treat your varicose veins.

What will doctor do about spider veins?

Spider veins, also known as telangiectasia, are small, dilated blood vessels that appear near the surface of the skin, often on the legs or face. While they are usually not harmful, spider veins can be unsightly and may cause discomfort or itching.

If you are concerned about spider veins, the first step is to see a doctor who specializes in vein disorders, such as a vascular surgeon or a phlebologist. They will perform a physical examination and may order an ultrasound to evaluate the extent of the problem.

There are several treatment options available for spider veins, including:

  1. Sclerotherapy:

This is the most common treatment for spider veins. A solution is injected into the affected veins, which causes them to shrink and eventually disappear. The procedure is usually done in the doctor’s office and does not require anesthesia.

  1. Laser therapy

A focused beam of light is used to heat and destroy the spider veins. This procedure is non-invasive and does not require needles or injections. Multiple treatments may be necessary to achieve the desired results.

  1. Radiofrequency closure

This technique involves using radiofrequency energy to heat and close off the affected veins. It is often used for larger veins and is performed under local anesthesia.

  1. Endovenous laser treatment

This is a minimally invasive procedure that uses laser energy to seal off the affected vein. It is often used for larger veins and is performed under local anesthesia.

  1. Vein stripping

This is a surgical procedure that involves removing the affected vein through small incisions. It is usually reserved for large or more severe cases of spider veins.

The choice of treatment will depend on the extent and severity of your spider veins, as well as your overall health and medical history. Your doctor will work with you to develop a treatment plan that is right for you.

I think I might have spider veins. What should I do now?

If you notice symptoms of spider veins ,a venous condition in their lower extremities, especially if you have numerous risk factors, we recommend that you come in for a consultation. We can use non-invasive ultrasounds and a thorough physical examination to test for chronic venous insufficiency. By getting a full picture of your vein health, we can insure that we are recommending the most appropriate medical treatment. If, during the exam, an underlying venous disease is found, we will first treat the chronic condition and then take steps to address the symptoms.

On the other hand, if there is no evidence of an underlying venous disease then your superficial veins can be properly managed right here at the Advanced Vein Center.

This past summer I noticed an increase in the number of those ugly blue veins on my legs. I booked an evaluation online for the Advanced Vein Center for after our beach vacation. When I went in, they ran some painless tests and as it turns out my veins are healthy. They suggested some treatments and provided me with a lot of information to make me feel comfortable about my decision. Next summer I won’t have to hide my legs under a wrap while at the beach.

Call our sister company Body Beautiful for those tiny ugly veins and Zap them away!

Zap Away your Spider Veins Laser/light therapy is an exciting new procedure in the field of spider vein treatment. Laser/light therapy safely uses light energy to erase painful and unsightly veins. The therapeutic method is 100% toxin-free and non-invasive, giving you the results you deserve without the risks or down-time that come with other forms of treatment. How does it work? Researchers and practitioners have been able to apply the seemingly limitless potential of lasers to the field of vein treatment. A carefully calibrated laser focuses photon energy on the unwanted blood cells in the vein. As the laser is applied to the spider veins the photons create heat energy strong enough to destroy the blood vessel but at safe enough levels to leave other tissue and structures unharmed. What are the possible risks? Like with any kind of treatment, there are some risks associated with laser therapy. While they are rare and relatively minor, they can occur.
